Birthday Countdown Envelopes

Birthday Countdown Envelope Who Arted 00

My father-in-law’s birthday is on February 15th. The poor guy gets overshadowed by Valentine’s Day every single year.

So this year, we decided to make him a special “birthday bundle” to help count down to his big day!

We started by labeling ten envelopes (one for each day) counting down to his birthday.

Then we printed a bunch of family pictures and put them inside each envelope. We also took some “countdown” pictures with our children holding up countdown numbers.

Lastly, I made countdown cards and my son and daughter colored each one.

We labeled the front of each envelope with the remaining days until his birthday. On the back we put “DO NOT OPEN UNTIL (date)”.

We organized all of our photos and artwork and made sure each envelope had something fun inside.

When we were all finished, we stuffed the envelopes, put them in a pile and tied them with string.

Then we mailed them to “Papa” so he could enjoy counting down to his birthday.

The kids and I had such a great time working on this project together!

The best part was watching my son get excited for someone else’s big day. He asked every morning if Papa had opened his envelope. He was geniunely excited!

My father-in-law still talks about how much fun this was. He  says he couldn’t wait to open his envelope each day. I’m so happy we could make his day a little more special this year!
