DIY: Boo! Sparkle Canvas

Day three of our Halloween art extravaganza! Which means it’s time for our final piece…

…the Boo! Sparkle Canvas!

Materials Needed:

  • Canvas (I used a 16″x20″)
  • Pencil
  • Black Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Black Glitter

On your mark! Get set! Let’s go!

First, take your pencil and lightly sketch out your design. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just enough for you to be able to see the layout. For my canvas, I drew two spider webs on each corner and wrote Boo! down the middle.

Next, using your paint brush, paint your design. If you’re right-handed, start on the left-hand side and paint each letter (or section) one at a time. As soon as you’re done painting, sprinkle black glitter on top of the wet paint. Then move onto the next letter (or section).

Don’t worry if your paint lines aren’t absolutely straight, the glitter will hide a lot of imperfections!

In no time at all, your entire piece will be painted and full of glitter. Let the canvas sit for a couple of hours before cleaning up (I let mine dry for 6-hours). After the paint dries, carefully pick up the canvas and gently shake to remove the unwanted glitter.

The final result is a sparkly masterpiece!
