Paper Plate Ghosts

Need a quick, easy and inexpensive Halloween craft for your little ones? Look no further!

Paper Plate Ghosts!

Materials Needed:

  • White paper plates (small or large)
  • Black construction paper
  • Glue
  • White Streamers
  • Scissors
  • *Optional* Red Marker / Crayon / Colored Pencil

Once you’ve collected your materials, it’s time to get started!

First, cut out the features you’d like for your ghosts out of the black construction paper. Eyes, nose, eyebrows, mouth, whatever you feel like! Be creative and let your imagination fly!

Next, arrange your pieces on the back of a paper plate. Once you have the look you like, glue the pieces down.

*Optional* Take a red marker, crayon or colored pencil and draw in any additional features (such as cheeks).

Next, cut three to five strips of white streamers for each paper plate.

Glue the streamers to the front of the paper plate (the front of the plate is the back of your ghost).

Starting at the bottom of the streamers, take a scissors and cut the ends til you have a worn, scary look. (Tip: Be sloppy! The sloppier your cuts, the more “scary” it will look. For someone like myself, who likes straight lines, this is a difficult step.)

Now, starting in the middle of your streamers, make sloppy cuts along the sides and in the middle of each streamer.

And you’re done! Hang up your paper plate ghost and enjoy!

TOTAL COST AND TIME:  I made four paper plate ghosts and it took 10-minutes to finish all four. I bought all my materials at Hobby Lobby. (I already owned the glue, scissors and red marker.)

  • White paper plates (small or large) – $1.49
  • Black construction paper – $0.99
  • Glue
  • White Streamers – $0.99
  • Scissors
  • *Optional* Red Marker / Crayon / Colored Pencil

TOTAL COST:  $3.47  /  TOTAL TIME:  10-minutes
