Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day! Arrgh, you ready to celebrate?
Last year we celebrated with a Pirate Themed Bath Hunt (click here for more details), but now that my children are a little older, I wanted to expand our festivities. (My affiliate links are in this post. As always, thanks for supporting Who Arted!)
I found some cute toddler pirate costumes on Amazon and I couldn’t resist! (These are the three I purchased, although there’s a huge range of options online! Baby Pirate Princess Costume, Toddler Pirate Princess Costume, and Toddler Pirate Costume.)
I also found this adorable, cardboard pirate ship. It came with jumbo markers and two cardboard swords. My son about lost his mind when he saw it all set up. He was BEYOND excited to play!
Full disclosure: the pirate ship was a little tricky to put together, but after 20-minutes I finally figured it out. Once it was all together, we set the kids lose! They LOVED coloring on it (BONUS: the markers are washable!).
After our ship was finished, we brought it outside for a treasure hunt! My son received the Melissa & Doug Pirate Chest as a birthday gift and it was perfect for this game! (I love Melissa & Doug toys – this set came with a pirate eye patch, gold coins, a coin patch, a treasure chest, and a pirate flag!)
We sprinkled the gold coins in the front yard and let the kids find their treasure!
Then we took our little pirates on a walk around the neighborhood.
At the end of the day, it was a great excuse to get together with my niece and have a great play date!
Keep on arrggh-ting!
