Today is my birthday. And it’s been a doozy.
An accidental black eye. Layoffs at work. A hospitalized grandparent.
But there’s always good, even alongside the bad: I took an early morning walk with my kids. My daughter made me birthday waffles (with sprinkles and candles). My niece FaceTimed and played “Happy Birthday” on the piano. We took a family bike ride.
There are lots of things being cancelled because of COVID-19: weddings, graduations, vacations… But birthdays can still happen. Just on a smaller, virtual scale.
The only thing that makes me feel useful during this tough time is creating things. So to celebrate my birthday I created this pop-up birthday card – in hopes you can use it to celebrate your child’s birthday – or help a loved one celebrate their birthday virtually.
Just print, color, and fold!
There are two versions: color and coloring-book (black-and-white). I created a template with wide-ruled paper for younger children, and one with college-ruled paper for older children.
You can download the template here.
This is part of my four weeks of quarantine series: A new (free!) project every single day, for four weeks.
UPDATE: I have created a mailing list for all my freebies. If you’d like to get an e-mail every day with a link to the newest template, you can sign up here.
Stay well, friends!
